Pachyella clypeata (Schw.) Le Gal Cup 1-4cm across, disc-shaped, closely attached to the substrate; upper surface blackish and shining, undersurface pallid with a faint greenish tinge. No stem. Spores ellipsoid, 25-27 x 12-14ľ. Habitat on very wet decayed wood of deciduous trees. Fairly common. Found widely distributed in eastern North America. Season August-October. Edibility not known avoid.
